Short courses delivered by SIC

Each course is a single unit of competency. Successful completion leads to a Statement of Attainment for that unit.

How it works

From enrolment to certificate

  1. Enrol online

Choose your course and preferred weekdays. It takes about 2 minutes.

  2. Confirm and prepare

We confirm your class day and time, send payment details and a short registration link, then you complete the online theory.

  3. Attend your class

Complete your face-to-face training and assessment with a trainer at Burwood. Bring photo ID.

  4. Receive your certificate

Your Statement of Attainment is issued once you have met all assessment requirements and your USI is verified.

Before you book

What you’ll need

  • Entry requirements. 18 or older, intermediate English, and a device with internet for the online theory. First aid courses include two minutes of CPR on the floor.
  • Support. Tick the support box when you enrol, or call us, if you need help with language, learning, disability or medical needs.
  • USI and photo ID. We will help you with your USI before class. Bring photo ID on the day.
  • Our policy. Read the Short Course Policy for payment, refunds, complaints and privacy.
Keeping your skills current

How often to update your training

Your Statement of Attainment is a permanent record. Employers and regulators decide how recent your training must be.

FAQ

Common questions

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. Each SIC short course is a single nationally recognised unit of competency. Successful completion of all training and assessment leads to a Statement of Attainment for that unit. Attendance alone does not lead to certification. IT programs are offered through SkillLaunch and have their own outcomes.

Do I need a USI?

A valid USI is generally required before a Statement of Attainment can be issued, unless an applicable exemption applies. Contact us if you need assistance.

Can I complete the course entirely online?

No. The theory is online, but every course includes a face-to-face practical session at our Burwood campus.

Is Child Protection the same as a Working With Children Check?

No. A Working With Children Check is a separate clearance you apply for through the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian.

I hold a student visa. Can I enrol?

Yes. Student visa holders are welcome to enrol in our short courses.

When are classes held?

Sessions are held every week on weekdays. When you enrol, tell us which days suit you and we will confirm your day and time.

When do I pay?

After we confirm your place. We email your payment details with your confirmation. Only pay to the account shown in an email from SIC.

How do I enrol in an IT program?

IT & Technology programs are offered through SkillLaunch. Visit the SkillLaunch website for content, fees, delivery and enrolment.
